Taruni mobile clinic service was flagged off by Dr. Vinaya Pendse (retired Professor and Head of Obstetric & Gynecology, RNT Medical College, Udaipur), Board Member, ARTH, for providing primary health care services (like contraception, ANC, PNC, etc) for young women in urban slum and peri-urban areas of Udaipur city. The mobile clinic is staffed by a senior nurse midwife(NM) and a clinic assitnat. Local neibhourhood volunteers (Taruni Sakhi) mobilze women needing advice or services in connection with thrie sexual and reproductive health needs to visit the clinic. When required, the nurse midwife is able to consult a specialst doctor over telephone, this will soon feature a internet video call facility. The service will focus on contraception, antenatal and postpartum care, menstrual irregularities and other common problems faced by young women.
